Well I cooked and cooked and cooked. It turned out pretty well I must say. Although there were a couple hiccups.
This year I made:
Turkey
Gravy
Mashed potatoes
Homemade Rolls
Cookies
Cranberry Sauce
Corn
Green bean casserole
Fruit salad
Macaroni salad
Vege Tray
Cheese/cracker tray
Ceaser salad
Pumpkin pie
For breakfast I made
Homemade cinnamon rolls
Sausage souflee
Watermelon
I think it was too much food!! I just love to cook when I have time and I really enjoyed doing it. It all turned out. The pie was a little off this time. Then, the turkey never completely thawed so I had to thaw it with warm water.
I cooked it in a bag and followed the directions to the T. I baked it @ 350 for 2.5 hrs it was a 13lb turkey and when I took it out it was DONE. Like it looked done done. Then as I went to cut into it. It was still uncooked on the inside. So I had to throw it back into a bag and bake it another 35 mins.
It all turned out, but while the turkey was baking the mashed potatoes got all cold and hard. Then the rolls cooled off.
I know every year will get better and better! The food all was really really good!! :-) And it was a nice day!!
Next year I will plan better. Mybe do some of the baking earlier in the week if possible or earlier the day before. I was up Wednesday night until midnight baking and up at 6:30 putting breakfast in yesterday. That's what Thanksgivings all about. I loved watching McKinley trying everything! She was so happy. You're suppossed to have all kinds of food you don't have everyday!!
I hope everyone had a great day! We did...
